The Canadian Red Cross, The Roughriders, and many other companies are the sponsors of the Red Cross Day of Pink, and they believe that every child should be treated with respect, and so does W.S. Hawrylak School. This means that we take a stand against bullying every day. Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 is the Red Cross’ Day of Pink, to celebrate, respect and to encourage others to join the movement. Because we are away on February 22nd due to the break, W.S. Hawrylak will be holding their Day of Pink on February 16th. We encourage all students and staff to wear pink that day to show support in standing up against bullying.
We are excited to have Tristan Frei (University of Regina Cougars Hockey Player) who will be coming to the school on Feb. 15th to talk to grades 4-8 students about bullying and respecting others. That afternoon our student leaders from the We ACT group and SRC will be attending the Red Cross Day of PInk rally at the University of Regina. Members of our SRC will also be going around from class to class to talk with students about respect and bullying.
At Hawrylak we also have the conflict managers program that empowers older students to help our younger students solve problems that arise on the playground. Please watch the Global News piece on the front page of our website to learn more about this great program.
